Understanding the Complexity of Perinatal Mental Health Beyond Depression

Perinatal mental health encompasses all emotional, psychological, and social well-being of a person during pregnancy and up to a year after childbirth. It is a broader concept than perinatal depression: it includes anxiety, stress, intense emotional changes, grief, previous traumas, and also conditions that affect the family and the environment.
