Through this article we congratulate My-Linh Thai, who has become the first refugee legislator in Washington State in the 41st district. This article gives a brief history of her arrival in the U.S and the transition process, her views on the government, as well as how she slowly evolved into the position she has now. They mentioned the horrors they faced in Vietnam along with the process and obstacles they faced to come to the U.S. Her goals during her time as legislator focus on improving the education system to become more equitable; public health; climate issues; and advocating for communities of color.
